The definition concierge comes from the Latin “conservo”, which means “the guardian of the lamps”; this denomination rested on who was in charge of satisfying every wish or request of the royal visits that visited the palaces in the fourth century.

 

Starting in 1900, the increase in train and ship travel forced the growth and incorporation of business and pleasure hotels, which finally produced the development of this concept and became a key point in luxury hotels.

 

The mission of the concierge is to provide guests with the necessary information regarding accommodation, reservations, excursions and all kinds of activities. The concierge can plan your shopping day or perform tasks that at first seem impossible, such as making a reservation at a full restaurant, VIP access to a nightclub or reserving a special restaurant with a flower detail for your partner, keeping an eye on the airline if your luggage is lost, hire a taxi or buy tickets for events. He has the knowledge of the area and can help you with the recommendations of the destination or to choose the best excursions, contact the medical team of your travel insurance or reconfirm your flights reservations. It is your personal assistant that takes care of all these tasks and more. He is a true ambassador of the service to manage, advise and facilitate all the requirements of the guests.
